Today I decided to take Hank on one of our longer walks — it works out to be a 5k! It also happens to include a stop at the Dunkin’ Donuts on San Mateo. Part of the walk takes us along the Hahn Arroyo to the Erna Fergusson library. The route is officially known as the Paseo de Nordeste Recreation Trail. The trail and the arroyo were recently revamped; it was under construction for quite a while so Hank and I had to take Comanche. One of the issues on the trail prior to the redo was that we always walked on the bicycle path. The walking side was just way too gross with dog poop a la irresponsible owners. Today we took the walking side to see if it had grossed up again. Happily I report a complete lack of poop and the area still looks as good as when it opened except for a bit of a need for weeding.
As part of the trail upgrade, the city also added these cool water fountains with an added doggie fountain too. I think the doggie mosaic is a nice touch as well. The sound of the doggie fountain freaked Hank out a bit. We’re going to have to work on that.
Finally we got to Dunkin’ Donuts. I got one of their special Men in Black 3 donuts — star shaped with chocolate filling and chocolate frosting and little white star sprinkles, as well as an iced coffee. The lady muttered how they were also supposed to be making donuts with sunglasses on them and then started chuckling. Somehow I don’t think that’s going to happen. Hank would randomly settle then not. I couldn’t get a good photo of him because he was too busy being on guard. With all the cars and people going in & out, he made a point of looking out away from me and keeping on eye on everything. Not so great for taking the picture, but a good dog in the grand scheme.
