Southeast Lighthouse, Block Island, RI.

Continuing our lighthouse series, Hank and I took the ferry out to Block Island on Sunday. The plan was to see the Southeast Light, but we also hoped to head to the north end of the island to check out the Block Island North Light. Unfortunately I did not plan as well as I should have for this outing so this was not possible. We really needed a whole day to accomplish this, but we got there midday. It also turned out to be hotter than expected and I had not brought enough water. Then we discovered that the Southeast Light, while not far from the harbor, is mostly an uphill winding climb and that did us in. Next time we’ll go out early and I’ll bring my hiking pack with water bladder and nothing will stop us!
